Last week I got to take part in my church’s worship conference. It was an incredible time that was filled with praise and adoration, and I have to say that there is nothing like a moment when two thousand praise leaders, musicians, and pastors come together and sing at the top of their lungs, praises to the God Most High. It is a moment to never forget and it is a time to cherish. I love those sweet moments of leading praise because the congregation becomes the leader. The paradigm shifts and the church body then encourages the praise leader to go where they are going.
On the evening of the 24th of June, Saddleback Church had a concert titled “The Calling”. It was a concert that addressed the world issues of poverty, orphans, and HIV AIDS victims. It was an incredible night that communicated our calling as Christians, that we are to be the ones who go and speak for those who don’t have a voice in this world, that we are to be the ones who show God’s love to the world through our obedience, actions, and words. This night was beautiful and I recommend all of you to join our conference next year if you can make it!
I would like to introduce you to my friend Norman!
He is a broken and bruised guitar that sounds so sweet, and we have begun a sweet relationship. Technically I do not own Norman, but I know that Norman would like me to adopt him. He told me that. Honest. Norman and I will be leading praise at the Worship Life Conference which takes place at Ocean Hills Church in San Juan Capistrano.
Today was the first day of the Worship Life Conference. This conference is put on by Ocean Hills Church in San Juan Capistrano. My good friend, Holland Davis, is the worship pastor at Ocean Hills and he is the brain behind the whole thing. He asked me to come and be a part of this awesome event and I sure wasn’t going to pass it up for a moment.
Here is a pic of my class!
So, with all that to say, I taught a class on the topic of youth worship. At first when Holland asked me to teach this class, I thought it was a broad topic to discuss and there are so many directions one can go with a topic such as “youth worship”. I began to think about it and I was excited at the challenge. I decided to discuss the topic of theology and how that impacts our worship individually and corporately. One might think that youth and younger people do not care about theology and that Jr. Higher’s and Highschooler’s don’t want to learn about the deepest parts of God, but to my excitement the class engaged.
Today is day two of the conference, and this morning I am so tired.
In about an hour, I am going to be leading praise for the conference and I am really excited about it. The people here are anticipating and expecting God to move among them, and I love when you see a body, a church, a congregation come with expectancy. I will keep you all posted!
Hey Everyone,
As you can see I have not posted anything in awhile. My life has been nutty, but now I am going to try even harder to fill you guys in by blogging more. So, here is something in the mean time.
Last week, I went with the band up to Forest Home which is located in the Big Bear Mountains. We led worship for 1700 college students and it was for California Baptist University’s new student retreat. I love these types of conferences and retreats because it allows for such an awesome and rich praise experience when hundreds of people are packed in a small room together, the focus is on the God of heaven, and the whole purpose is to bring glory to God through our response to Him. Here is a little glimpse of what went on that week!
The song “Given To Your Name”, which is on my record, is going to be on the next Song DISCovery album, volume 72.
For those of you who are not familiar with Song DISCovery, Song DISCovery exists as a resource to bring worship leaders some of the best new music for worship. Their mission is to equip Worship Leaders with a broad and diverse selection of worship songs and resources that they can quickly integrate and use in their worship settings.

Today I was convicted. I was convicted of a terrible thing. I was confronted with the truth that I do not LOVE. One could say that I love my wife and one could say that I love my country, and because of those things I LOVE, but the truth is that I do not LOVE. What I mean is that I do not LOVE like Jesus loves.
Scripture says in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”
When I examine myself in the light of scripture and in the light of this passage, I see how I should LOVE. I see how to LOVE like Christ and to be more like Him. For Christ’s love is TRUE LOVE and we must all LOVE like Jesus.
